Once you have successfully completed your course a 2 year certification card will be emailed to you the same day.
Individual students that need training can take the American Heart Online Course and then come to our La Habra location for a 30 minute skills check off. At that point you will receive your 2 year AHA certification card. See our FAQ page for details.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a series of lifesaving steps. Let Garden Grove CPR Training pros show you how.
When a traumatic accident happens victims may stop breathing, if a person has a heart attack their heartbeat may stop or become irregular. This is where CPR is useful and may save a life.
CPR can keep oxygen-rich blood flowing to the brain and other organs until emergency medical treatment can restore a normal heart rhythm. When the heart stops, your body no longer gets oxygen-rich blood. The lack of oxygen-rich blood can cause brain damage in only a few minutes.
Whether you recently had CPR training or have only seen it in the movies the American Heart Association says you can help save a life. It only takes a few simple steps to prolong a persons ability to stay alive long enough for professionals to arrive and perform advance life saving techniques.
The first thing both trained or untrained rescuers will do is perform chest compressions. By compressing hard and fast on the victims chest oxygen rich blood is pumped to the brain prolonging life.
CPR may be a frightening prospect for you. Maybe you are unsure how to perfectly perform the procedure. Don't let this stop you. Of course its best to take a class from Garden Grove CPR Training but even if you are unsure or only know the basics, you can help. It would be better to do a little and help than do nothing and not give someone a fighting chance to survive their situation.
The American Heart Association had this to say...
1. Not Trained - If you have never had a CPR class in the past or you are concerned about giving breaths to a stranger you can still help. Compression only CPR is an effective method that can save a life if the persons heart has stopped beating. Even without breaths Hands Only CPR works. By simply giving compression on the chest fast and hard (100-120 compressions per min) until help arrives you are providing live sustaining help. So don't worry, you don't necessarily need to breath on another person.
2. CPR Trained - If you have had training and still remember the basic steps don't hesitate to provide assistance when an emergency occurs. Depending on your level of training begin by checking for pulse and breathing and proceed based on your findings. Remember the ration of 30 chest compression to 2 breaths for adult cpr. Remember to always be sure the scene is safe before you help. It only makes things worse if you become a victim along with the other person.
3. Rusty Skills - Maybe you had training a long time ago and feel you may not remember all the steps or just are not as confident as you used to be. Don't let this stop you. Start out with Hands Only Compression CPR and that will help. Its likely that as you start the process your past training will come back to mind and you can implement these as you assist the victim.
Just remember something is better than nothing. A little can go a long way in helping your neighbor in need. Give us a call at Garden Grove CPR Training and lets set up a new or refresher cpr training class so you can feel confident and give someone a second chance at life through your life saving help.

Prior to Giving CPR do these steps...
1 Check to be sure the scene is safe, if not, do not attemp to help just call 911. Of the scene is safe for you then tap and shout 'Are you OK?' See if the person is breathing.
2 If you dont get any response from your tap and shout call 911 or better yet get someone to do it for you.
3 If an AED is in the area send someone to get it.
4 Start hands-only CPR by giving compressions.
Hands-Only CPR - How To Do It.
1 Get in a position next to the person so you can give compressions. They must be on a hard flat surface. So for example if they are in a car you will need to drag them out of the seat and lay them on the ground.
2 Start by finding the center of the chest and placing the heal of your hand there
3 On top of the first hand place the heel of the other hand on top.
4 Position your body so that your shoulders are directly over your hands, and keep your arms straight.
5 For best results push hard and fast. Give compressions at least 2 inches deep by using your body weight to aid in the compression. Provide at least 100 compressions per minute with a slight pause in-between each to let the chest rise after each compression.
6 Keep pushing until the person awakens or another individual can take over or you're too tired to continue. If an AED becomes available use that right away.
